Brangelina's French Quarter mansion hits the market

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt sell French Quarter home

New Orleans may be saying farewell to our favorite celebrity couple.  Then again, they might just be sick of the French Quarter! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have listed their 1830's New Orleans mansion with Latter and Blum for $6.5 million.  It's a steep price, at $850/sq ft.

Located at 521 Governor Nicholls Street, the home is 7,645 sq ft with custom designed marble mantles & fireplaces, crown moldings, grand spiral staircase, elevator, private spacious patio w/pool, chef's gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances and laundry room.  You'll also get a separate guest house and private parking for two cars.

There's one thing the couple plans to take with them, however.  The dining room chandelier is excluded from the deal.

Jolie and Pitt first bought the house in 2006.

La Provence: Fine Dining on the Farm

There are few things I enjoy in life more than a delicious meal on the town... except maybe a delicious meal on the farm!  I'd been dying to check out famous New Orleans chef John Besh's restaurant "La Provence."  However, it's about an hour outside of town, so Joe's birthday was the perfect excuse to finally make it happen!

I splurged and borrowed a Rolls Royce from a VERY generous neighbor and hired a driver to take us there!  We felt like royalty sipping champagne on the drive across Lake Pontchartrain and were blissfully blown away by the magical setting once we arrived.  Tucked away behind the quaint building is a small farm with an herb garden, chickens, pigs and geese (which you'll find on the restaurant's Christmas menu)!  I kicked off my heels as we strolled through the grass, took pictures under the live oaks draped in Spanish moss and made friends with all the animals.  Then, we headed inside to eat...

If you're expecting a formal affair at La Provence, turn right around.  The ambiance transports you into a comfortable and rustic, French chateau.  We noshed on the most amazing pate and crostini, sipped a farm version of the classic French 75 cocktail (complete with sprigs of fresh lavender) and ordered the surprisingly affordable 3-course "market menu."  The wait staff was fabulous, the food was delicious and as we stepped back into our luxurious ride, I couldn't think of a more perfect way to celebrate my amazing husband.

Kingsway House: Contemporary Design With Rich History

Kingsway House Chandelier- Studio WTA A while back my neighbor told me he found his dream home.  Since his house is MY dream house, I figured this place must be amazing.  He was working on a movie that was being filmed at the Kingsway House, on New Orleans' historic Esplanade Avenue.  It's a 12,000 sq ft private residence that's rented out for movies, weddings and parties (my friend Kenny went to a party put on by Solange Knowles there)!

The home began as two separate residences in the 1860's and was combined into one in the 1930's.  Back then, it was owned by Count Leon Arnaud Cazenave, owner of the famous Arnaud's Restaurant.  In the early 1990's, the property was transformed into Kingsway Studios, which recorded the likes of Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M. and Sheryl Crow.  In 2002, it was sold to Nicholas Cage.  Studio WTA worked on renovations for Cage and again for Sean Cummings, the current owner.

The Kingsway House boasts a floor-to-ceiling crystal chandelier- apparently one of only two in the world.  The decor blends modern minimalism with traditional New Orleans warmth. I think its absolutely stunning, but take a look at the pictures from Studio WTA's website and decide for yourself!

Why Everyone is Talking About Goop

Gwyneth Paltrow's Pop up Goop

Remember Gwyneth Paltrow's "conscious uncoupling" from Cold Play front man Chris Martin!?  Late night comedians had a hell of a time cracking jokes about that one.  But for many folks, it was also the first time hearing about Paltrow's lifestyle website, Goop, on which she announced the split.  It probably was not the type of exposure Gwyn wanted, but hey, any press is good press.  Right?

The weekly newsletter has been around since 2008.  Each week, she focuses on an action: make, go, get, do, be, see.  It's sorta like Martha Stewart, but for the Hollywood jet-set type.

And it's actually pretty fabulous.  You'll find everything from recipes for One Bird, Three Meals to Tracey Anderson's 15 minute workout.  Just last week, Gwyneth announced a new venture: Goop's first retail location!  It's a pop-up shop at the Brentwood Country Mart, filled with her favorite goodies.  It was only open for a week, but don't worry, if you didn't have time to stop by, there's still plenty of shopping available online.  You may want to start saving your pennies.

Fashion Friday: Flower Headbands and Floral Crowns for Festival Season

Courtesy: Callina Marie Festival season is upon us and there's no hotter accessory than flowers for your hair, thanks in large part to music and fashion muse Lana Del Rey. Whether you go for a headband or crown, bold buds or a simple twist, the floral touch is a perfect accent for your festival attire!  Last summer, my beautiful and talented sister-in-law put this trend to the test at her California wedding, with smaller crowns for the bridesmaids and large white roses for her.  As the lead stylist and owner of Paper Doll Salon, she knows a thing or two about pulling off trends and the result was stunning. Here are some of my favorite looks, along with some additional links and DIY resources if you feel adventurous enough to make one yourself!
