When I was pregnant with Beau, my dear New Orleans friends Whitney, Deepak and Dominique threw me the most unforgettable baby shower! So, when Whitney announced she was expecting a little girl, my wheels started turning immediately!
I contacted a few of her close friends and we got to work creating an "April Showers" themed soiree. We held the party at Nicole's home, which was once a neighborhood grocery store. The open concept and eclectic decor are perfect for a party!
We decorated with a color-palette of coral, pink, mint, gold and cream. The centerpiece was a paper parasol with crystal raindrops and tissue paper pom poms hung at different heights. Lily brightened the space with an assortment of stunning flower arrangements in rain boots. We threw in a few teddy bears, apothecary jars filled with animal crackers and garlands to round it out.
The food consisted of Sonoma chicken-salad sliders and lettuce wraps, cheese and charcuterie platters, blue cheese-stuffed strawberries, fresh fruit, madeleines and pink coconut cupcakes. Guests sipped on champagne, mimosas, sparkling water and pink lemonade.
Because the shower was co-ed, we kept the games short and sweet. A name-that-tune game of baby-themed songs engaged the guests, while a baby bottle beer-chugging contest really got the crowd going! Friends and family left the party with a seed packed and decorated "umbrella" sugar cookie.
Whitney was over-the-moon with the end result!
