After a rollercoaster week, we've officially signed on the dotted lines (all 8,954,823) of them. We're HOMEOWNERS! It truly is an incredible feeling. In some ways, I think it's as big of a committment as marriage. I've always loved Joey, but now we're hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt...together. How romantic!
Now, back to the "rollercoaster" I mentioned earlier. They say home ownership is expensive, but we're already off to a rough start. We found out one day before closing that our costs were thousands higher than our good faith estimate from USAA. Mild to moderate panic attacks ensued. Luckily, we'd saved enough to cover the difference and we'll just have to tighten our belts a bit more in the coming months. At this point, McDonald's is a luxury.
If you're wondering who the random person is in our picture, it's our realtor Jon Huffman. Don't let his wild and crazy expression fool you, he's downright amazing. I can't even begin to list the ways he rocked our home-buying experience and with all of the inspection surprises we encountered, it definitely was NOT an easy one. If y'all ever need to buy a home in New Orleans, I wouldn't use anyone else.
